Is there any dependability issues with this bike? My first bike...?

This is my first bike. Im still learning to ride, and havent taken this bike out yet, but im buying a 1100 cc Magna (im not sure i think it a late 80's) from a neighbor for $600. It has a liquid cooled 4 cylander motor on it, im not a bike guy in any means other than i want to be one. I just wanna know am i buying the AMC Pacer of bikes? Or is this a good bike? I know 1100 cc is a bit over kill for a starter bike but i dont plan on being crazy with it.
