At an arraingment, one enters a plea. Eiether guilty or not guilty. If the plea is not guilty, then the court will schedule a trial. It will not be that same day and there is no court that has juries sitting around waiting for something to happen. When the day for the trial comes, the jury will be seated and both sides present their evidence. Then the jury is instructed on the law. Only then can the jury decide the case. I have seen deliberations last 15 minutes and I have seen them last for a couple weeks.
