How do I crack this type of personality?

Maybe try when its just you and him and he tells you something you know is untrue call him on it and explain to him with you all he has to be is himself and doesn't have to hide behind stories and things that aren't reality that you like him for him!! i used to be the same way as your friend and i was genuinly hurting and hid behind stories because it was too hard to deal with reality and a friend of mine conviced me to come clean stop burying the pain under lies and stories to keep my mind off the pain at any cost i embred it told him things i never thought i could say cry tears i never thought i could cry and never looked back and life after that day has been Amazing and in one way or another i thank him everyday even though i've only said it to him a handful of times he knows and i thank him by just being ME!!!
